They said I might never train again.
But Jiu-Jitsu taught me one thing — we don’t quit when life gets hard. We fight.

Professor Leonardo Amora Gosling

On March 1st, 2024, my life slowed down fast.
A truck hit my car, and I ended up with a serious neck injury.

No training. No teaching.
Almost a full year off the mats.

Ten months of rehab — day after day, just trying to move better, heal, and stay patient.

It wasn't easy. But I had a reason.
Actually — three reasons.

MauiKauai, and Enzo — my sons, my motivation, my biggest inspiration.

They've each built their own jiu-jitsu path:
 Maui & Kauai — multiple-time IBJJF Pan-Am Champions

Professor Leonardo Amora Gosling’s family

Enzo — AJP Miami Champion, brown belt at 19

Watching them chase their goals reminded me to keep fighting for mine.

Then, on October 26th, 2025, I stepped back on the mat at the PBJJF World Championship — not sure how my body would respond, but certain my heart was ready.

And that day, I became a PBJJF World Champion.

It wasn't just a win.
It was proof that we can rebuild.
That we can fall, and rise again — stronger, humbler, and more grateful.

Today, I'm back doing what I love:
Teaching, training, learning.
Every roll means more than ever.

I'm Professor Leonardo Amora Gosling,
and I'm thankful every single day to still be on the mats.
